But let’s be honest, it can also be a little bit scary. That’s why I’m here to help! I’ll be with you every step of the way, giving you personalized tips and advice. With my interactive and uncomplicated approach, you’ll learn lifelong skills that will allow you to cut your hair the way you want it. So what are you waiting for? What you will need for your DIY+ Haircut:
- An positive attitude and willingness to let perfectionism go, this is a fun experience!
- Sharp scissors that aren't bulky (nope sorry those fabric shears are probably sharp but too big!)
- Several large hairclips, alligator or claw clip style work well.
- A wide tooth and fine tooth comb (or one that is combo)
- Device you can set up for a video call on zoom
- A well lit area that has a mirror you can look into while we work and a hand mirror so you can look at the back of your head in the mirror!
- Spray bottle with water
- Some inspiration photos! They don't have to be an exact "I want this" but a general mood board of the style

Hi! I’m Shyloh, a licensed hairdresser and the owner of my own hair studio. I specialize in cutting hair for everyday people, wavy and curly hair, and sustainable haircare. For over a decade, I’ve served my clients locally with green alternatives to traditional haircare. I’m passionate about sustainable, low waste, minimalist haircare – it’s something close to my heart. It’s important to me that we take care of our planet, and that starts by taking care of ourselves!
2020 was a game-changer for me, as someone who is immunocompromised, I had to look at things differently. That’s when I began offering virtual services to my regular clients. I soon realized how freeing and empowering it was for them to be able to take charge of their hair in their own homes! Now I bring these virtual services beyond my local reach to a worldwide audience.
It’s my mission to help people feel heard and seen with their hair care. I don’t want you to just look good I want you to feel it.
