Karma Cuts for Community
Karma Cuts for Community is a mutual aid program by The Green Hairdresser that offers a limited number of reduced or no-cost haircut appointments each month.
It’s built on a simple belief: everyone deserves to feel good and express themselves authentically through their hair.
Each month, I set aside a few appointments for community members — because affirming, quality haircare should never be out of reach.
Instead of tipping for other services, clients are invited to contribute to the Karma Cuts Fund. It’s a pay-it-forward system that helps cover the cost of these appointments and supports the Mutual Aid Events I also donate my time to throughout the year.
This is just one way we take care of each other — through small acts of solidarity, one haircut at a time.

Will you still be at community events?
Absolutely. In addition to Karma Cuts, I’ll continue providing haircuts at various Mutual Aid events throughout the year
Where does the funding come from?
Funding comes through the Karma Cuts Fund, which helps cover basic operating costs while making space for meaningful, community-rooted care. Instead of tipping, clients are invited to contribute to the fund — a pay-it-forward system that directly supports reduced or no-cost haircut appointments.
Any contributions beyond the cost of appointments go toward purchasing haircare products, which are shared freely during quarterly Mutual Aid Events.

Can I donate products instead?
Yes! New or gently used haircare products are always welcome and are distributed during quarterly Mutual Aid Fairs.

Who can apply for a Karma Cut?
Anyone in the community in need who would be a good fit for my haircut services is welcome to apply. Priority goes to community members seeking gender-affirming cuts, sensory-friendly care, or support with chronic illness.
How many appointments are available each month?
A limited number of Karma Cut appointments are available monthly based on funding. If you’re not selected this round, you’re welcome to reapply next month!
How do I apply?
Applications open on the 1st of each month and can be submitted through the form below.
I personally review each application and make selections based on need, availability, and whether my services are a good fit for what you’re looking for. It’s important to me that each appointment feels supportive and aligned for both of us
How much does it cost?
Karma Cuts are offered on a sliding scale. When you apply, you’ll be asked what you’re able to contribute toward your haircut — whether that’s a little or nothing at all. Being able to offset some of the cost helps me offer more appointments each month and extend this care to more members of the community.
